Need to know: Transport in Valencia

The best ways to go around in Valencia is by bus, as its network is quite extended and well organised. The ticket is very cheap (1.20€) and you can also buy travel cards for as many trips as you want.You can view the map of the routes on EMT website or pick it up at the tourist office.
The metro is another useful mean of transport in Valencia but noy for small trips, as it doesn’t stop anywhere in the centre and it skips many destinations, like Canovas and the City of Arts and Science. So you had better choose it when needing to do long distances..like going to the beach. The ticket costs 1,20 if travelling within town limits, while if you go outside you have to pay an extra charge.
You can also take a taxi, and contrary to what most people think, here taxi drivers are very kind and don’t usually try to cheat you. To give you an idea of the prices:

• Airport - Centro: 15-18 euros
• Centro - Beach: 10-11 euros
• Generally, you won’t be pressed to spend more than 10€ for a drive within the city limits.

If yowant to be more indipendent, you can rent a car or, more interesting and funny, rent a bicycle. As regards car rental you can choose among Hertz, AutoGolden, Avis, Centauro, Multirent e Europcar. Riding by bicycle is another good option too…Valencia is totally compact and flat, so it ill be easy and funny!There two companies dedicated to bike rental: Orange bikes and DOYOUBIKE. These are two rental shops. But if you live in a more residential area, you can hire a bike at “locutorios”… then nothing else! Enjoy yourself!
